These pieces were mainly made in 1998 to 1999. I made a mould out of damp bronze casting sand. The base was then cast into the sand mould. When the casting was still hot I quickly blew the vase for the top and picked up the casting on the base of the blown piece. The whole thing was then put onto a pontil iron so that I could open up the neck. They were enormously heavy to wield on the iron but very satisfying to create. |
